In The Dark and Daily Draw February 2014
In The Dark - A Horror Anthology comes out in April from IDW Publishing and I was more than happy to be a small part of it with an illustration (above - click to enlarge) for the pin ups section of the book.
Edited by the restless Rachel Deering, this anthology is a 368 pages behemoth with an A-list team of creators (Cullen Bunn, Tim Seeley, Scott Snyder, Justin Jordan, Tradd Moore to name a few) bringing you the most horrifying stories that won’t let you sleep at night.
And as if it wasn’t enough, I’ll also have all my Ficticia/Inkshot cohorts sharing pages with me, Felipe Sobreiro - who already posted on his DeviantArt, George Schall and Camila Torrano soon to be revealing theirs as well.
You can pre-order it here on this link to the Previews catalogue.
In other news, starting tomorrow I’ll be a part of Satellite Soda’s Daily Draw February, where - as the title says - you post a new drawing everyday of February.
I always wanted to do one of these monthly art challenges that are rather common on Tumblr, but they’re usually just agreed upon a hashtag to identify its participants, with no further control. That is perfectly fine for most people, but I needed an extra push that I’ve found on this one, where you register on their website and you have a control panel dedicated to the project, a full gallery with everyone participating and best of all, a tally listing every participant and their performance making sure everyone is comitted to posting every single day of the month. Of course it’s not an obligation and if you can’t post something everyday it’s fine, just as long as you keep having it in mind and using as motivation to contribute as much as you can, but the tally is there to make you want to do more and end february as a “streaker”, which is extra cool and it’s something you don’t have on other art challenges.
One of their tips is to set a theme for your illustrations to make things a bit easier to maintain, so in celebration of my In The Dark contribution - but also because I had so much fun with it - I chose Horror as my theme and I’ll be drawing creepy stuff the whole month.
You can keep track of it on Satellite Soda’s website but I’ll also post every drawing here with the official hastag #DDF2014
